F1-Curve — BMW
The BMW Welt - the new center of BMW for brand experience and vehicle delivery in Munich - has been opened. In the lifestyle shop you can look at an object manufactured by Hahlbrock: the F1-curve.
The design and the curved course of the F1-curve in space required for a material which combines shape forming, smooth surfaces on all sides and a lightweight construction. Therefore the object is made of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP). Because of its length (about 36 m) the object is divided into different segments; after merging is just only a slim joint visible.
The surfaces were high glossily painted blue and red. There were used only colors according to the specification of the BMW Sauber F1 team. The suspension of the space object was made of 10 fixed points on stainless steel cables.
